Running Race

Level 1

4 competitors, Alice, Bob, Carl, and Daniel, finished a 10k race with no ties. We have the following clues:

  1. Carl finished after Bob but not after Alice.
  2. Alice was not last.

What was the order in which they finished? Use capital letters, from left to right with the first letter of their names, to represent 4th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st place. For example, if Alice won 1st, Bob 2nd, Carl 3rd and Daniel 4th, then the representation would be DCBA

Using spaces _ _ _ _ to represent the places each competitor finished, we have:

_ A _ _ because Alice was not last, Carl beat her and got beaten by Bob, so she was 3rd.

_ ACB Carl lost to Bob

DACB default place for Daniel
