Sarah starts with 7 9 crayons and gets back 6 9 crayons. To get the number of missing crayons, we subtract the number of crayons James gave back from the number of crayons Sarah gave him. Thus Sarah is missing 7 9 − 6 9 = 1 0 crayons.
