SAT Math XII

Logic Level 2

If Daffy is assigned to Project Bugs, then the project will be completed on time. Which of the following can be concluded?

If Project Bugs is not completed late, then no one other than Daffy was assigned to Project Bugs. If Daffy is not assigned to Project Bugs, then Project Bugs will be completed late. If the project is completed one week late, then Daffy was not assigned to Project Bugs. If Daffy was assigned to Project Goku, then Project Bugs will not be completed on time.

Note that the contrapositive (the negated converse) is the same thing as the original statement once observed in a truth table. Remember the contrapositive of a statement ( p q p\rightarrow q ) is ( q p \sim q \rightarrow \sim p ).

In our case the contrapositive would be:

If the project is not completed on time, then Daffy was not assigned to Project Bugs.

Because a late project is the same thing as completing it after the deadline (in this case, one week after), we can say that

If the project is completed one week late, then Daffy was not assigned to Project Bugs.

Ans. \boxed{\text{Ans.}}

Yeah this may be acceptable as a math solution, but not as an SAT math solution. Consider that the people that are reading this may not exactly be all mathoholics, so try to avoid mathematical jargon such as that of the logic theory.
