Since the number of 5-cent screws and 10-cent screws are equal. Let x = number of screws

0.05x+0.1x =3

.15x = 3

x = 20

Total number of screws sold = 20 five-cent screws + 20 ten-cent screws = 40 screws

300 = 5x + 10y the least possible for x and y to have a value of 300 is 20 for both thus, 20 x 20 = 40
