How many white cubes are there in the given structure?
[This question is badly phrased.]

Not a well posed question. I counted the total number of cubes and got 95, anyone else agree?

I agree I got 95
That's what I get in the beginning! But when I see there's no such thing, so I changed my mind and look it another way~
I also got 95...not a good question...
In fact, the choices forces us to choose 16, otherwise I bet the rating of this problem will fly like a rocket! (Since we will simply put 95)
yes i do
The trick to the problem is that it can be seen in two ways. Imagine that the white faces of the cubes are facing forwards, not upwards and you'll see an entirely different formation. Cubes that are not visible are not known to be white and thus are disregarded. I agree that it wasn't well worded, though.

If the cubes can be view from two different perspective, you will get two different total counts.
This question does not even make sense to me. What are "white cubes"?
darn it looked like a giant 5x5x5 cube with 30 cubes removed.
Stupidity at its best...Probably it was an alien language ...I think so after reading the ques.
There are no givens. I can just as well claim that none of the cubes are exactly white, or that none are exactly cubes. What exactly is the point of this?
It wasn't told that we should count only the cubes which "can be seen"!
It's not at all math, it's all about twists in language. Not good at all (Pls don't mind)!
This question was way too ambiguous. It did not specify whether or not the cubes behind the ones visible were white, nor did it say to count only the visible cubes.
solved paper me answer 40 diya hai
The problem lacked a good and specific question, if I may say so.
From different views no. of cubes appear to be changing??????
What about the cubes which we can make of length twice each side ?
PS - The problem isn't mathematical , is it ? It is just based on how well we grasp English ? - " White cubes "
My answer is actually 95
THIS IS WRONG
Completely bs question. The diagram is wrong.
Bad question... the answer could equally well be 25. You can also visualise the same picture with the bottom right corner cube as being in the last most plane instead of the first most plane (from most case would give 16 as the answer, last most case gives 25 as the answer). Its more like a visual illusion.
I thought that the cubes went into the back so there were 16+9+4+1=30 and 5 2x2x2 cubes and it didn't make sense at all, not enough information to solve the problem.
there were 2 ways of looking at it, for one of the ways i got 95, the other 30.... i was just confused.
i truely got 95 but only 16 appears in the choices
40 is the correct answer according to the ssc je answer sheet ..but how ... my answer is 16 ....
There are white cubes on 5th layer also. I think data is not sufficient.
but the right answer is 40 ..so do more effort or there is no need to upload wrong answers to increase your site vistitors ..
how it 16 plz explain?
Got it wrong, the picture which I was supposed to count from won't load properly. Just opted the largest number.
Poorly posed question. Multiple answers.
change "tricky" to "stupid" and its a more accurate description of the problem
But what about rest 9 box on top ??
If they ask only how many cubes,,, then ans is 95,but they ask white cubes according to the q ans is 40 but how I dont know.... May be the q is wrong 😕or not

There are white cubes on 4 layers (not 5) and their count is = 1 + 3 + 5 + 7 = 16.
