Every number is a multiple of itself. That is a × 1 = a a Z a\times 1 = a \ \forall \ a \in \mathbb{Z} .

Quiet unconventional explanation, but when we say LCM of 3 and 6 is 3 we mean 3 is a multiple of itself right.
