The area of the yellow region is equal to the area of the rectangle minus area of the circle (2 semi-circles), then divide the result by two.

A y e l l o w = 4 ( 8 ) − π ( 2 2 ) 2 = 32 − 4 π 2 = A_{yellow}=\dfrac{4(8)-\pi (2^2)}{2}=\dfrac{32-4\pi}{2}= 16 − 2 π \boxed{16-2\pi}
