First term 2.

Second term( 2×2)-1=3

Third term (3×3)-1=8

Fourth term (8×8)-1=63

So our next term will be (63×63)-1= $\boxed{3968}$

$t_{n+1}=t_n^2-1$

The sequence is n^2-1, so the next number is 3968

1 st term = 2 2 nd term = 2×2-1 = 3 3 rd term = 3×3-1 = 8 4 th term = 8×8-1 = 63 So 5 th term = 63×63 - 1 = 3968
