The number of students who only passed in math is 8 8 − 7 0 = 1 8
The number of students who only passed in physics is 8 0 − 7 0 = 1 0
So 1 0 + 1 8 + 7 0 = 9 8 . Hence 1 0 0 − 9 8 = 2 students failed in both subjects.
