Carter has 46 - 2 / 2 points. 46 - 2 = 44 / 2 = 22 points. 22 / 2 for field goals = 11

I will refer to Carter's goals as C and Bryan's goals as B for simplicity, B = C + 1 B=C+1 and 2 × ( C + B ) = 46 2 \times (C+B)=46 therefore

1. C + B = 23 C+B=23

2. 2 C + 1 = 23 2C+1=23

3. 2 C = 22 2C=22

4. C = 11 \boxed{C=11}
