Shorten the time

A company hires 16 workers to finish a certain job in 18 hours. If the company wants to shorten the time to 8 hours, then how many extra workers are needed?

Assume that all of the workers work at the same constant rate.

Firstly, we know that 16 workers take 18 hours. Next we divide the 18 by two and multiple the 16 by two. Next we take the 2 and multiply that by 4 and take the 144 and divide that by 4 so you should end up with 36 workers and 8 hours. Now, we just minus 16 and this should leave the answer of 20.

Given that, 16 workers to finish a certain job in 18 hours. Therefore, total man hours required for completing the work=16 x 18 Hours.

If work need to complete at 8 hours, then required number of workers = 16 X 18 8 \frac{16\ X\ 18}{8} = 36.

Therefore, extra workers required = 36 - 16 = 20 workers
