Should you answer when you are not sure?

Logic Level 2
  • Suppose there are 100 multiple choice questions in an entrance exam of a renowned College. There are 4 options for each questions and the first 200 people will be selected among about 25000 people. For each correct answer you will get 1 mark. But if you select a wrong answer 0.25 marks will be minus out for each.If you do not touch a question that will not make any change to your marks. After answering 80 questions you found that you are not sure about the other twenty questions.Among them some are totally unknown and you don't have an idea. How should you face those 20 question?
Shouldn't answer the 20 question Should answer all with own idea or randomly Only answer the questions you don't have an idea. Should only answer the questions seems known to you

There are four options for each questions. If you answer randomly the chance to get the correct answer is 1/4. So almost 1 out of four questions will be correct. And that will get you. 25 marks(1-3x0.25=.25). This is not a must but the most possible case. So it is better idea to answer all the questions in this scenario.

Wait! So even if you skip the questions it is still counted as wrong? (You said -0.25 mark for wrong answer but mention nothing about skipping the answer)

No, skipping is car counted neither wrong nor right. Your marks will be unchanged when you skipped a answer.

I think you should read the problem statement more carefully. "If you do not touch a question that will not make any change to your marks."
