Shuk's Geometry

Geometry Level 1

The v o l u m e , V volume,V of "a shape" varies jointly with the square of its r a d i u s , r radius,r and its h i g h , h high,h . The constant proportionality is π \pi .

(i) Write an equation for V V ,

(ii) Hence, by applying your geometric knowledge, identify the shape obtained from the equation in (i)

V = π r 2 h 2 V=\pi { r }^{ 2 }{ h }^{ 2 } , Cylinder V = π r 2 h V=\pi { r }^{ 2 }h , Cylinder V = π r h 2 V=\pi \sqrt { r } { h }^{ 2 } , Sphere V = π r 2 h V=\pi { r }^{ -2 }h , Cone

volume of cylinder = pi r^2 h (ans.)
volume of sphere = 4/3 pi r^3
volume of cone = 1/3 pi r^2 h
