You are given the following equations:

a + b = 12 a + b = 12

3 a + b = 26 3a + b = 26

Find the sum, 8 a + 3 b 8a + 3b .


The answer is 71.

a+b=12 →a=12-b

and 3a+b=26 →3(12-b)+b=26 →36-3b+b=26 →-2b=-10 →b=5

so, 8a+3b =8x7+3x5 =71
