The problem is needed to be solved analytically. First, we need to read the language of the questions. That, is, If the question had asked us "In how many different ways 12 IDENTICAL things can be distributed among four different people? "The answer would be simple: Its simple just one way, in either way all those people will get same number of things in quantity and quality. But, here the puzzle is little different , so let me directly come to the question.

since there are 12 different things let it be: A, B, C, D, E,F,G,H,I,J,K,L

and four people as p(1), p(2) and p(3)

let the first person get ANY four things, so the ways in which its possible is: 12C4= 495 ways.

If the first person selects his four things, then it would be second person's chance to select the things, now he has only 8 options left so, 8C4= 70 ways

after them, there comes the third person would have left with just one possible way to pick his four things, and that are reamining

so total number of possible cases are: 495X75= 34,650 ways.
