Simple Physics#2

A circular loop has resistance 12 ohm.Tow points P P and Q Q are selected on the loop, so that the loop will be divided into two parts in the ratio 1 : 3. Electric cell of 9 volt is applied across P P and Q Q . Calculate the total current across the loop.

Resistances of two sections of the loop are 3 and 9, combined resistance:

1 R = 1 3 Ω + 1 9 Ω R = 9 4 Ω \frac{1}{R}=\frac{1}{3\Omega}+\frac{1}{9\Omega}\Rightarrow R=\frac{9}{4 }\Omega ,

I = V R = 9 9 / 4 = 4 A I=\frac{V}{R}=\frac{9}{{9/4}}=4A
