if x+1/x=2 then find the value of x^2 + 1/x^2

$\frac{x + 1}{x}$ $= 2$

$x + 1 = 2x$

$1 = 2x - x = x$

Now since we are asked to give our answer in the form $x^2 +$ $\frac{1}{x^2}$ :

$1^2 = 1$

$1 +$ $\frac{1}{1}$

$\frac{1}{1}$ $= 1$

$1 + 1 = \fbox 2$
