Let the sequence be x i x_i . The sequence is defined by x n = 2 2 ( n 1 ) + 1 x_n=\dfrac{2}{2(n-1)+1} . Since we are being asked for x 5 x_5 , we just have to plug 5 5 in the previous formula, thus obtaining x 5 = 2 9 x_5=\dfrac{2}{9} .
