The derivative is 3x^2 so the slope is 3

I first took the derivative of x^3 + 1, which is 3x. Then i substituted the x with the value of the x-coordinate of the point, which is 1

So 3(1) = 3

d d x ( x 3 + 1 ) = 3 x 2 \frac{d}{dx}(x^3+1)=3x^2 Nice try, though!
