The product is 1 81 = 0. 012345679 \dfrac{1}{81}=0.\overline{012345679}
There is 'carry' from behind so it is not 8 8 but 9 9 .

How do we know that's the expansion for 1 81 \frac{1}{81} ?

1 9 = 0. 1 = 0. 111111111 \dfrac 19=0.\overline 1=0.\overline{111111111}
111111111 ÷ 9 = 12345679 111111111\div 9=12345679
So 1 81 = 1 9 ÷ 9 = 0. 012345679 \dfrac 1{81}=\dfrac 19\div 9=0.\overline{012345679}

1 9 × 1 9 = 1 81 0.012345679.... \frac 19 \times \frac 19 = \frac 1{81} \approx 0.012345679....
