At noon you have 2 smarties a bowl. The number of smarties doubles every minute. By 2pm the bowl is full of smarties. At what time was the bowl half full of smarties?

it doubles every minute......means it is half at 1:59 and become double at 2:00 ,i.e full

It's given that every minute it doubles, SO, at last minute it was half because at last minute every smarty double itself so half become full.

Every minute the number of smarties double. When the bowl was full at 2pm the minute before it the bowl was half full..1/2 + 1/2 =1 Tgerefore the answer is 1:59pm
