There are some identical balls in a bag. The ratio of volume of balls to that of empty space surrounding them is $1:k$ where $k$ is positive integer other than $1$ . If a prime number of balls are removed from the bag the ratio of volume of remaining balls to remaining space is $1:k^2$ . Find the number of balls.
