let number of cat feeders be x and number of cats be y. Since total heads are 300, we have, x+y=300 .....(1) There are total 1060 feet. Hence, no of feet of cat feeders- 2x and no of feet of cats-4y. hence we have, 2x+4y=1060 .....(2) on solving equations (1) and (2), we get y=230,which is no of cats.

x=300-y so, 2(300-y)+4y=1060 600-2y+4y=1060 2y=1060-600 2y=460 y=230
