Solving 2 Variable Equation

Algebra Level 1

y = 8 x + 3 \large y=8x+3

Which of the ordered pairs is a solution of the following equation?

(A) : ( x , y ) = ( 1 , 11 ) (x,y) =(1,11) .
(B) : ( x , y ) = ( 1 , 5 ) (x,y)=(-1,-5) .

For (1,11): 11 = 8 ( 1 ) + 3 11=8(1)+3 = it is solution For (-1,-5): 5 = 8 ( 1 ) + 3 -5=8(-1)+3 = it is solution So B o t h Both is Answer for this question

Substitute the value of x x into the equation

(A) : x = 1 , y = 8 ( 1 ) + 3 = 11 x=1,\;y=8(1) + 3= 11

(B) : x = 1 , y = 8 ( 1 ) + 3 = 5 x=-1,\;y=8(-1) + 3= -5

From here, we can see that both (A) and (B) \boxed{\text{(A) and (B)}} satisfy this equation
