The human spine consists of 31 pairs of nerves, 8 cervical nerves, 12, thoraic nerves, 5 lumbadic nerves, 5 sacral nerves, 1 coccygeal nerve.
The C1, also called atlas, (reference to the greek deity, whose job was to prevent the sky from falling down to earth by carrying it on its neck) only has a motoric function.
