A stone is dropped into a well having water at a depth of 45 meter . Sound of splash due to the stone striking the water surface in the well is heard after 3.125 seconds . What is the speed of Sound ( in m/s ) in the given case?

Its so simple.... Time taken for the downward motion of stone,T=square root of 2H/g=3s Time Taken by the sound for the upward motion=3.125-3 It is equal to Hight/Velocity

distance= 45m for a free falling body t= (2h/g)E0.5 ie t= 3s is the time taken by stone to reach the surface of water therefore sound travels the 45 m in 0.125s hence the velocity is v= 360 m/s
