It's important to note that :

Work done by the body = Work done by the spring

F d = ( 1 / 2 ) k x 2 Fd = (1/2)kx^{2}

1000 ( 6 + x ) = ( 1 / 2 ) ( 2000 ) x 2 ) 1000(6+x)=(1/2)(2000)x^{2}) where x is the deformation.

Solving for x yields 3 " 3"
