The area is just 4 + 5 4+5 , or 9, so the side length is the square root is 9, which is 3.

AREA = n = 4 5 n = 4 + 5 = 9 a 2 = 9 a = 9 a = 3 \displaystyle \sum_{n=4}^5 n = 4 + 5 = 9 \\ \Rightarrow a^2 = 9 \\ \Rightarrow a = \sqrt9 \\ \therefore a = \boxed{3}
