The number of set of stairs (with 12 stairs) in between the 1st floor and the 7th floor is 6 Thus, 6 x 12 = 72 The answer is 72 stairs
Simple arithmetic progression.
You design the formula: f ( x ) = 0 + 1 2 × ( x − 1 )
You then replace x with 7 since 7 is the number of floors you need to get to.
f ( x ) = 0 + 1 2 × ( 7 − 1 )
f ( x ) = 0 + 1 2 × ( 6 )
6 × 1 2 = 7 2
The answer is 72 .
Nice way of thinking about this.
I made some Latex edits to make your equation readable.
Cada andar,12 degraus.
Ele começa do primeiro andar,logo, temos: 1º-->2º-->3º-->4º-->5º-->6º-->7º 12 + 12 +12 + 12 +12 + 12
Ou seja: 12.6 =72
Calvin stays in the 7th floor, he starts from the 1st floor to the 7th floor. That will take 6 floors for him to reach the 7th floor, each floor has 12 stairs so there will be 6*12 = 72 stairs because Calvin wanted to reach the 7th floor not croos it
From the 1st to the 7th there r 6 floors so the no. of stairs is 6 * 12 = 72
This question was tricky because it required you to understand the number of floors that Calvin had to climb. Most of the wrong answers were 7 × 1 2 = 8 4 .
12+12+12+12+12+12=72 or 6x12=72
If there are 7 floors and 12 stairs, there are 84 stairs total. Since Calvin is already on a floor, you don't count the first floor, so 84-12 stairs is equal to 72. :)
From the first floor to 7th floor, there ara 6 x 12 stairs = 72 stairs
They say that Calvin stays on the 7th floor and there exactly 12 stairs between each floor. You would multiply 6 * 12 and get 72 steps. You wouldn't multiply by 7 because he didn't go up the seventh set of stairs.
You start off on the first floor so you climb 12 stairs for six levels until you reach floor seven. 12x6=72 so your answer is 72.
there are 7 floors. But he is in 1st floor so ((1-2)=12+(2-3)=12+(3-4)=12+(4-5)=12+(5-6)=12+(6-7)=12)=72

from the 1st floor and climb up to 7th floor, means that Calvin climbs 6 floor at total ( 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th, 4th to 5th, 5th to 6th, and the last 6th to 7th).
since each floor there are exactly 12 stairs, Calvin has to climb :
= 6 × 1 2
= 7 2
Thus the answer is 72
