Total students = 40

Going for English = 14

Going for Chem = 29

Going for both = 5

Thus, number of students going for at least 1 subject is = 14+29-5

That is 38.

Means, out of 40 fellows, 38 are going for at least 1 subject. Apparently, 2 students are not going for any 1 of the subjects.

R e s = 40 ( 14 + 29 5 ) = 2 Res = 40-(14+29-5) = \boxed{2}
