Unbeknownst to those wet blankets at Child Protective Services, my neighbor, Cuthbert, showed off at a local picnic by shooting an apple off his son's head with an arrow. While the dutiful son stood by a tree and allowed his dad to place an apple on his head (the kid was on his smart phone and was oblivious to our reality), Cuthbert positioned himself 20 meters away and aimed. The arrow was two meters off the ground. The son's height was just under 1.2 meters. And, to the shock and horror of all caring people, Cuthbert's arrow just barely missed his son's head and hit the apple. Assuming that Cuthbert fired horizontally, how fast did the daft old fool shoot the arrow? (Neglect air resistance.)
