Given that the time taken by Alex to solve a problem is 4 60 = 240 sec 4*60 = 240 \text{sec} .

And Brian takes one-fifth of the time taken by Alex to solve the problem. So Brian takes 240 / 5 = 48 sec . 240 / 5 = 48\text{sec}.\square

since the answers are displayed in seconds, i need to convert 4 minutes to seconds which is (4 X 60) or 240 seconds. The correct answer would have to be (240 / 5). but without pen and paper or calculators, i have to use my little brain only but then was too lazy to mental-calculate, Since I don't know the exact answer figure, i do know 250/5 is 50. Hence 240/5 must be slightly less so 48 presents itself as the closest answer. This is a lazy and rather quick way.

First we need to convert 4 min of time in to seconds . 60 x 4 = 240, then 240 / 5 = 48 sec.

4 minutes = 60 × 4 60 \times 4 = 240 seconds

Brian can solve the problem in 1 5 \frac{1}{5} of 240 seconds.

Doing the math: 240 5 \frac{240}{5} = 48 seconds.

if alex slove the problem 4 min and brian slove the problem is 1/5 time of alex. x=1/5(4*60) x=48 sec

1/5 min=0.80 min=.80*60=48 second

1/5 * 4/1 = 4/5

60/5 = 12, 12*4 = 48

Thus 4/5 of a minute is 48 seconds.

All you have to do is read and follow instructions the first person did it in 4 mins the instructions then said that Brian did it on one fifth of the time 1\5 ×4\1 and you get 4/5 then you have to find the time that Brian solved it so 4/5 of 60 and the answer is 48 By the way I am actually thirteen I only se t my account like this cause I didn't know the age restriction

So basically first you find out how many seconds is 4 minutes. 4*60 equals 240 seconds. Next you divide 240 by 5.

Alex can solve the problem in 4 minutes or 4X60 seconds = 240 Seconds
Brian can solve the same problem in 1/5 times that of the time taken by brian.
Mathematically : Time take by Brian = 1/5 (Time taken by Alex)
T = 1/5 (240) = 48 sec

firstly think what time does Alex needed 4*60=240 now just divide the time by 5 as Brian need five time less then Alex so 240/5=48

There are two ways to solve this problem. 4 minutes is 240 seconds, since 60 * 4 = 240. Now, to find one-fifth of 240, we can either divide 240 by 5, or multiply 240 by 0.20, as that's one-fifth converted to a decimal. The answer remains the same at 48 seconds.

Time taken by Alex = 4 mins= 240 Seconds

Time taken by Brian = 1/5 * 240 Seconds

4×60= 240

240÷5= 48 seconds

Alex perform the job in 4 minutes = 4X60= 240 seconds, however, Brian can perform the job 1/5 of Alex time. Therefore, Brian can perform the job within 48 seconds.. Time, t = 240*1/5

First of all, we have to take out how many seconds does 4 minute equal to. After finding this, it will be equal to 240 seconds. After that we have to do according to the question that is Brian do the the sums in 1\5 of 4 minutes. So we can also write as the following:

1\5×240 =48

Therefore, the answer will be 48 seconds.

Its very easy...just convert 4 minutes into seconds-

4*60 = 240 seconds

And then divide it by 5 because Brian takes "1/5 th of the time taken by Alex"

Suppose that Brian"s solving time is t1 and Alex"s is t.

We know, Alex"s solving time is t=4 minutes=(4*60)seconds=240s.

So,Brian"s solving time is t1=240*1/5=48s.

4÷1/5 =0.8 =0.8*60 =48
