  • Elmo is on the planet called Elmoworld with the same gravity as this planet. The entire elmoworld is on the x z xz plane and the only ground on Elmoworld that does not have 0z is 0x.

Find the x x -coordinate (the only non zero coordinate) of destination to 3 decimal places.

Assume g = 10 m/s 2 g= 10 \text{ m/s}^2 .


The answer is 101.596.

While this problem can probably be solved kinematically, the easiest way to solve this problem is using the range formula (v^2/2g)(1+sqrt(1+2gy/v^2sin^2 x))(sin 2x) where x= theta.This simplifies to (((sqrt2256)+16)/16)x512/20 which when plugged into a calculator results as 101.5957 which is basically 101.596
