2 solutions

let B B be the present age of Bill and P P be the present age of Paul, then we have

( B 18 ) + ( P 18 ) = 39 (B-18)+(P-18)=39

B 18 + P 18 = 39 B-18+P-18=39

B + P = 39 + 18 + 18 = 75 B+P=39+18+18=\boxed{75}

Very easy.

18 × 2 = 36 \large{18×2=36}

36 + 39 = 75 \large{36+39=75}

Thus the answer is 75 \boxed{75}
