The numerator is equal to 9 × 15 9 \times 15 and the denominator is equal to 9 × 5 9 \times 5 , hence the expression is equal to

9 × 15 9 × 5 = 15 5 = 3. \frac{ 9 \times 15 } { 9 \times 5 } = \frac{ 15 } { 5} = 3.

I've called it X and subtracted 1 from both sides, so the numerator became 9 times 10 and the denominator became 9 times 5. Then, X minus 1 is 2. Then, X is 3.
