- Kevin is shorter than Brad but taller than Mike.
- Mike is taller than Max but shorter than Kevin.
- Finally, Tom is shorter than Tim!

Tom > Brad Tom > Mike Kevin < Brad & Kevin > Mike Mike > Max & < Kevin Tom < Tim
According to the first line Brad is the shortest, According to the 3rd line Mike is the smallest since Kevin is smaller than Brad but Mike is smaller. According to the 4th line Mike (the current smallest) is taller than Max that make Max < Mike Therefor Max is the smallest.
Leading us to the end of the chain
For the tallest Tom is taller than Brad Since in all other lines Brad > x we know brad is the (current)second tallest At the last line Tom < Tim ,Tim is taller!
Shortest = Mike and Tallest= Tim
