Following the pattern above, if 1 4 × 5 = 1 a 1 b , \displaystyle \frac{1}{4\times 5} = \frac{1}{a} - \frac{1}{b}, what are the values of a a and b b ?

In general, 1 n ( n + 1 ) = 1 n 1 n + 1 \frac{1}{n(n+1)} = \frac{1}{n}-\frac{1}{n+1} . Thus, 1 / 20 = 1 / 4 1 / 5 1/20=1/4-1/5 .

the following equation can apply 1/(n*(n+1))=(1/n)-(1/n+1)

listen the resultin fraction is positive therefore a has to be 4 as 1/4 is bigger than 1/5 and if a was 5 the result woould be negative

I solve problem by assuming 4=n and apply {1/(n*(n+1))=(1/n)-(1/n+1)} this equation. a=4 and b=5

Since numerator is 1 and denominators are 4 and 5 ,therefore 1/4X5 will be 1/4 - 1/5 and a =4 and b=5 Ans

The theory is 1/n(n+1)=1/n-1/(n=1) if you want the value of a and b it will be a= 4 and b= 5
