4 solutions

perimeter=16 divided by 4 sides then square it!

Let the 4 sides of a square be a, b, c, d.

It is given that:

Perimeter = a + b + c + d = 16

=> a + a + a + a = 16 .........(since all the sides of a square are = )

=> 4 a = 16

=> a = 4

Area of square = a x a= 4 x 4 = 16 cm^2

The alternative answer choices do not include 16 which is the correct answer. This should be rectified by the poster of the question.

Area and perimeter are the same

Area = square(side) = square(perimeter/4) = square(16cm/4) = 16 sq.cm.

16cm ^2

This is because the perimeter of a square is the total length of all its sides. A square has four equal length sides which means the legth of one side is given by the formula:

L(side) = L(total)/4

so the length of each side of this square is 4cm

The area of the square is its width times its height (both 4cm in this case) so,

Area = 4x4 = 16cm^2
