How did you find the 30 degree angle?

He found out the congruence of the left green triangle (the one that has 40 degree angle) and the right orange triangle and found out that two adjacent sides of the whole quadrilateral are equal. Then taking those adjacent sides and a third side we get a triangle with two sides equal which means two of its angles are equal. From that he gets the 10 degree angle and hence gets a 40-10=30 degree angle.
