Let B B be the cost of a ball. Then the cost of a bat is B + 1 B+1 . B + ( B + 1 ) = 1.10 2 B = 0.10 B = 0.05 \begin{aligned} B + (B+1) &= 1.10 \\ 2B &= 0.10 \\ B &= \boxed{0.05} \end{aligned}
