Escaped distance = pursued distance
( speed of Mr X ) × ( time spent escaping ) = ( speed of police ) × ( time spent pursuing)
v × t = ( 1.5v ) × ( t – 1 )

1.5v = 1.5vt – vt = 0.5vt
