The police was behind one hour of Mr X, so we need to account this is the time taken by to catch him. Let v be the speed and t the time in hours.

Escaped distance = pursued distance
( speed of Mr X ) × ( time spent escaping ) = ( speed of police ) × ( time spent pursuing)
v × t = ( 1.5v ) × ( t – 1 )
vt = 1.5vt – 1.5v
1.5v = 1.5vt – vt = 0.5vt
t = 1.5v / 0.5v = 3 hours

Let the speed of car of Mr X =x Police= 1.5x We know that S=D/t So speed of car of Mr X = x =D/t So D =xt -1 Speed of car of police 1.5x =D/t-1 D= 1.5x •(t-1) D= x•(1.5t-1.5) -2 Since LHS is same So xt=x•(1.5t-1.5) t=1.5t-1.5 0.5t=1.5 t=3 Sorry for errors it was my first explaination😇🙂😇
