Of the 4 numerical answer choices, 24 and 18 are the only choices that are factors of 1008. 1008/18 = 56. Sherry and Fred would have a combined age of 19 (37 - 18). Of the factors of 56, none of them add to 19. 1008/24=42. Sherry and Fred have a combined age of 13. Two numbers that have a sum of 13 and a product of 42 would be 6 and 7. So 24 is the correct answer for Tom's age.
