At 1:00 the jar is completely filled.

At 12:55 it is half filled.

Hence at 12:50 it is 1/4 full.

It takes 2 doublings to go from 1/4 full to full. That's 10 minutes. So 10 minutes ago from 1:00 -- i.e., 12:50 -- is the answer.
