• It can't be 13 mm or 13 cm because they are too short.

• It can't be 14 m NS because there is no such thing as north-south.

So the answer is:

13 m

We just have to use the Pythagorean theorem. Displacement here is the hypotenuse of the right triangle with sides 5 and 12. (5)^2 + (12)^2= x^2 25+144=x^2 x^2=169 Therefore x= √169 => 13 m

I can't see why you need to use the Pythagorean theorem when you can just use logic?
