No. of squares = ∑ i = 1 9 i 2 = 285 \sum_{i=1}^{9} i^2 = 285

1 + 4 + 9 + 16 + 25 + ... in reverse,

Sum _ of _ squares (9) = (1/ 6) (9) (9 + 1)[2 (9) + 1] = 285
