THE FRUIT BOXES

Logic Level 3

There are 4 boxes, each one is filled with a different type of fruit. the fruits are apple, mango, grape, and orange. each box has been packed in a way that no one can see or smell what is inside them.

A group of 10 people was asked to guess which box is having which fruit. They knew that all the boxes contain different fruits and they knew the name of the fruits but they had no idea about which box is containing which fruit, they had to simply guess the correct answer.

The correct answer is 4.

the logic behind this is: If someone guesses 3 correct answers, i.e they guess the 3 correct combinations of fruit and the boxes, then automatically they will correctly guess which fruit is in the fourth box.

If they were clever enough to give selfconsistent and complete answers, there should be no people with 3 correct answers. But obviously these inconsistent or incomplete answers were given: these data are presented to us as facts. So, the 4 people with 3 correct answers must have named the same fruit twice, or just gave only 3 answers. No one named all 4 correctly.
