Grandfather Clock Strikes Ten

Up in the attic, there is a grandfather clock which takes 7 seconds to strike 7 o'clock. How long will the same clock take to strike 10 o'clock?

To strike 7 , the clock strikes its first gong at 7 and it strikes 6 more intervals ....thus for each interval time taken would be 7/6 seconds

therefore to strike 10, it needs to cover 9 intervals, which will take

9 * 7/6 = 10.5 seconds

Did not quite understand the question...... 7 seconds starting from where?

question incomplete.according to answer we should start counting when the tip is at 1 not 12
