replace the 1 ohm deltas with 1/3 ohm wyes.

through symmetry we find that we can remove middle 1/3 ohm resistor because its ends have the same potential

we are left with a series parallel circuit

R = 1/3 + (1/3 + 1 + 1 + 1/3) || (1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3) + 1/3 = 14/9 = 1.56 ohms

I greatly appreciate your removal of 1/3 ohm. I learn from you.
Shortest and most easy method. Thought three deltas are converted, it is no problem since they are identical and all resistances are equal. To make it easy to understand I am posting a sketch under my name since I can easily download.
