The lion's share

Logic Level 2

Tina, Mina, Nina and Lina are four sisters. One day jina, their uncle brought some candies for them. But at that time only Lina was present there, she took the candies and ate half of the them and saved the rest for the other three.

Just then Nina arrived, now each one of them(Lina and Nina ) ate third part of the remaining candies and saved the remaining for the other two.

Just then Mina arrived, now again each one of them(Lina, Nina and Mina ) ate fourth part of the remaining candies and saved the rest for Tina.

Just then Tina arrived, now they(all four sisters) divided the candies equally among themselves and ate it.

If Tina ate only 3 candies, then how many candied did Nina ate?

1) Tina got only 3.
2) Just before Tina arrived, there were 3 candies x 4 girls = 12 left for her, though they divide them equally after.
3) Lina, Nina and Mina ate 12 each, from the total of 12 candies x 4 = 48 left for Mina and Tina.
4) Just before Mina arrived, Lina and Nina ate 48 each, from the total of 48 candies x 3 = 144 left for Nina, Mina and Tina.
5) Just before Nina arrived, Lina alone ate 144, from the total of 144 candies x 2 = 288 given by Uncle Jina.

Tina : 3 candies
Mina : 3 + 12 = 15 candies
Nina : 3 + 12 + 48 = 63 candies
Lina : 3 + 12 + 48 + 144 = 207 candies

Total = 3 +15 + 63 + 207 = 288 candies
