The little girl did not say "I am a liar", which would have resulted in a paradox. She said "If you asked me, THEN i would say yes." However, that cannot be true, because if you asked a truth-teller are they a liar, they would say no, and if you asked a liar if they are a liar, they would lie and say no. The little girl knew this, and said that if you asked her the question she would say yes, which is a lie, so she is a liar.

If someone is asked if they are a liar, no matter if they are a truth-teller or a liar, they would say "No". Therefore, this little girl is lying.

If the little girl says, "I am a liar" , then your solution will be wrong, because this will result in a paradox.

So what is the difference between "I am a liar" and what the girl said?

Because the little girl is not saying that she is a liar. She is saying that if you asked her if she is a liar, she would say she is. If you actually asked her if she was a liar, she would say no. However, she lies about this and says that she would theoretically say yes IF you asked her.
